More ‘Glacier Funerals’

This article uses symbolic ‘glacier funerals’ in Nepal and the Alps to frame a new Nature Climate Change study on “peak glacier extinction” this century. Under current updated +2.7°C warming projections, only about 20% of glaciers may survive by 2100, with grave consequences for worldwide water resources, especially Himalayan rivers, ecosystems and cultures, reinforcing the urgent need for more ambitious global cooperation, clean energy transitions and rapid emission cuts.
