Training of Trainers on Circular Economy
India’s first virtual initiative focused on equipping educators, professionals, and SMEs with the knowledge and tools to transition from a linear to a circular economy.
Overview
The Training of Trainers (ToTCE) programme is designed to build capacity and accelerate the adoption of the Circular Economy model by empowering key influencers across sectors. With the growing urgency to shift from a linear to a circular system, there is a strong need to equip educators and private sector stakeholders with the tools, knowledge, and mindset necessary to drive this transformation at scale.
ToTCE focused on two major segments:
- Educational Institutions: to instill circular values in future generations through educators and academic systems.
- Plastic Sector SMEs: to help small and medium-sized enterprises adopt circular practices and green their supply chains.
How We Do It
Educational Institutions
We engaged teachers, professors, scholars, and students (11th grade and above) through interactive training sessions aimed at:
- Embedding sustainability and circular economy concepts in school and university ecosystems.
- Sharing replicable sustainability models and real-life case studies.
- Providing practical toolkits and checklists for institutional transformation.
- Aligning learnings with global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 11, 12, 13).
- Encouraging educators to become changemakers within their communities.
Plastic Sector SMEs
For the private sector, especially SMEs in the plastics value chain, we provided:
- Training on design thinking, circular product design, and sustainable supply chain strategies.
- Hands-on sessions to address barriers like financial constraints and lack of technical know-how.
- Guidance on leveraging green finance and reducing plastic use in collaboration with OEMs.
- Practical tools to measure and track their progress towards sustainability.
- Alignment with SDGs 8, 9, 12, 13, and 14 to help businesses contribute meaningfully to global goals.
